Tiffany Blue...I love you!

Okay, so I know I fall in love with many of the pieces I redo...like the dresser in the last post, but this little lady is truly a heart stopper! When I found her at my local Habitat for Humanity store, I was quite excited & better yet- 30% off furniture that day!!! So I, well we, (my bro & I) brought her home. She was in need of veneer being stripped away & some fresh new paint & graphic wallpaper to give her the Modern look she deserved. After looking at her for a while, I remembered my grandparents having a similar piece when I was younger- even more fond of her now :) Anyway, this was a family project I tell you- stripping veneer, painting, removing hardware & hinges to be able to paint, sanding & finallly adding the new back board with wallpaper (which my oldest son also helped pick out- good job Mason!). I love the complimentary colors of the Tiffany Blue/turquoise & the orange. I decided she needs a name worthy of her vintage & modern style as well as her beautiful frame, so Jacqueline it is. Jacqueline as in the "Jackie O." Yes, stunning & makes a statement wherever she goes. I listed Jacqueline on my Etsy shop today. She will be a beautiful addition to any home. She would look great in the kitchen, dining, nursery, or girl's room. Thanks for looking.

Bright White is Dy-No-Mite!!!

I picked this dresser up several weeks ago from the thrift store hoping to use it in our living room to accomodate & distract from the large flat screen my husband insisted on having- you all know the huge eyesore so many of us have to try & decorate around :) Anyway, I got sidetracked, the dresser in all it's brown glory really needed some sprucing up. It was in excellent physical condition, so that made my job easier. I was sad when it was just too large to fit in our living room & decided to try & find it a new home. You can purchase it on my etsy shop. Did I mention I really am sad to see it go? I hate it when I rescue a piece of furniture & become so attached to it.

Never a Dull Moment

So my sweeties are still asleep & I decided to share some of their best moments in pictures. These might not be for the faint of heart, but here it is the REAL story of raising boys... Okay, so Nacho Libre isn't part of our family- but as you can see, he'd fit in nicely.

Another Year Wiser

Well, what do you know- both of those Howell boys passed this year!! HAHA. We'll have to take a look back at the beginning of the year photos because they have both grown so much- especially Mason. He is pretty proud that his foot is bigger than his dad's & he is taller than me. Where does time go? Evan will be moving on to third grade at a new elementary school since we have moved & my big guy will be going to junior high. I know, I know I didn't think 3 year olds could go to junior high either, but apparently I didn't get the memo that he is now 13!!! Yes, 13- I know technically I'm old enough to have a teenager, but it just feels weird! Can anyone relate? We are SO VERY proud of our sweet boy who was also awarded the Masonic award for his sixth grade class! He is quite special if I do say so myself, but we are elated that others see that too. Here's to a great summer of staying up late, breathing in some fresh air, feeling the sun on my face, swimming in the cool water, drinking sweet tea, playing outside, listening to music, hunting for furniture, or whatever you enjoy doing!

Spring Break... well, I'm a Little Behind on Posting

So over spring break we went to Playa Del Carmen. I must say I would highly recommend it to anyone needing some sun, relaxation, and an overall wonderful vacation. We went along with my husband's parents and my sister-in-law's family as well. So four boys, water,& sunshine- what's not to love? Plus HAPPY HOUR everyday at 11:30!!! It's just R-U-D-E not to have one of the mudslides or pina coladas, LOL. We played at the beach, pools, did water zumba, chilled, ate, Mason parasailed, etc. Basically loved life & enjoyed family time too. Of course, Evan had to get stung by a bee or hornet of some type?? He had a screaming fit in the water & I had to pull the thorn like stinger out- OUCH!!!! Other than that, all was wonderful. Evan also won a musical chairs competition and was dancing & throwing his shirt off for the crowd- apparently it was quite the scene! (We had left the uneventful beach party to check email-UGGGH, seriously?) Decided work is over-rated, but needed to accomodate my strong desire to come visit again...

Furniture Updates

So I finished an antique dresser and recently some endtables too. Here are the before & after pics. Of course, I always like green & the contrast of the bright white against the mahogany- well it's just lovely. They are both on my etsy shop ShelleyChicDesign. Hope you enjoy...

Modern Stripes

Today I am featuring a dresser that I transformed last summer, but forgot to share. It was hard to part with this one & I am kicking myself for not keeping it. I had the good fortune of finding not one, but two of these modern styled dressers. The other was also gray and white, but a little different. I believe I blogged about it in July 2011 if you want to check it out. Anyway, lots of rain & gray clouds here today, so this dresser brightens my day- hope it does the same for you! You can see more restyled furniture on my etsy shop
